Trump is now reportedly plotting a COMPLETE partisan takeover of our independent Postal Service [1] – defying the Constitution, which clearly gives Congress, not the President, authority over the USPS. [2]
But we know the rules have never stopped Trump, who has long wanted to privatize this essential public service at the expense of millions of Americans who rely on the Postal Service for receiving medications, sending letters to family, or casting mail-in ballots. [3]

Trump and DeJoy have already done serious damage to our Postal Service – including shutting down key distribution centers, slowing mail delivery in rural communities, and hiking the price of stamps. [4]
But having a loyalist in charge wasn’t enough for Trump. He reportedly wants total control.
Here’s the problem with his plan: The Postal Service is a public good guaranteed by our Constitution, which grants Congress authority over the USPS – NOT the President. [2]
As we’ve seen in the first month of President Trump and Elon Musk’s regime, they don’t care about following the Constitution – but courts do, and are willing to step in and stop this administration’s attempted power grab.
On everything from freezing (then restoring) federal aid, to attempting to purge the federal workers that serve communities across the country, to now reportedly trying to take over the independent USPS, Trump and Musk are brazenly violating the law and hoping nobody will stop them.
But for each of these illegal acts, Americans will pay a real price. We’re all worse off if we lose our Postal Service – especially rural communities, seniors receiving medicine, and small businesses that rely on timely mail delivery.
