Dear John,

We understand and feel the difficulty of living through major historical moments such as today. Almost daily, we witness our different communities targeted at the federal level and in our very neighborhoods, and it is becoming clearer that attacks on immigrants and their children, women, and LGBTQ+ communities affect everyone: our autonomy, safety, and ability to thrive.

While these huge shifts in our society and lived experiences may be scary and isolating, it may bring comfort to remember that those who came before us—Kala Bagai ([link removed]) , Marsha P. Johnson ([link removed]) , Stormé DeLarverie ([link removed]) , Grace Lee Boggs ([link removed]) , and Eddie Canales ([link removed]) , among many million others—fought for a world where we are all flourishing freely. Their legacies should serve as a reminder of our progress, responsibility to one another, and how to build solidarity considering our intersecting identities.

As we face and challenge such attacks head-on, we invite you to utilize resources on mental health ([link removed]) , join communities such as our Wellness Support Groups ([link removed]) , and follow organizations such as ICWC ([link removed]) , Justice for Migrant Women ([link removed]) , Familia:TQLM ([link removed]) , and Immigration Equality ([link removed]) .

Similarly, find yourself in resonance with narrative-changers like Greisa Martínez Rosas’ article ([link removed]) , Dr. Felecia Russell’s Intersections ([link removed]) podcast, films A Mother’s Promise (2019) ([link removed]) and Yellow Rose (2019) ([link removed]) , and women and non-binary influencers such as Claudia Rojas ([link removed]) , Dellara Gorjian ([link removed]) , Dr. Veronica Velasquez ([link removed]) , Sonia Guiñansaca ([link removed]) , and Soultree ([link removed]) .

We are, and always will be, resilient in more ways than one.

With you always,
Immigrants Rising
