August Wildlife Updates Curated Just for You!A big thank you to our friends of wildlife who sent messages to members of
Congress, urging them to step up for wildlife in crisis! With your help, earlier
this month we delivered wildlife champions eagle plushies with cards signed by
more than 23,000 supporters to every sitting member of the House of
Representatives. And now, because of people like you, we have almost 100 members
of Congress supporting the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act—the solution we
need to help struggling species from sea turtles living along our coasts, to
moose facing an uncertain future to monarch butterflies in desperate need of
habitat along their migration route.

Rather than waiting until species are on the brink of extinction, the Recovering
America’s Wildlife Act would direct significant resources to the proactive,
collaborative conservation of more than 12,000 species that states have
identified as priorities for action. What a great win for wildlife and all of us
who care about saving our natural world. I hope you enjoy the rest of your
summer and feel good about all that you do for wildlife!

sharp teeth!

PRONGHORN XING: A TWO-PRONGED APPROACH
In early 2011 along the Montana “Hi-Line,” approximately 1200 animals were
killed by trains, including groups of approximately 240 and 270 pronghorn. In
addition to the tremendous need to protect wildlife from human-caused harm, the
frequency of the loss of human life is worth asking, “What can I do?”

GOING MEDIEVAL: BATS AREN’T BIRDS AND BEES DON’T HAVE KINGS
In ancient and medieval times, people were just as fascinated as we are today by
the natural world and the creatures that inhabit it. Back then, they didn’t have
Wikipedia as a resource, so as you might imagine some pretty interesting myths
came about.
