The Biden administration’s White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, criticized by pro-firearm groups as a "progressive" policy back door, has officially gone dark under President Donald Trump after only 15 months of operation.

Gun control advocacy groups lamented the news on X/Twitter while pro-gun groups celebrated the removal of the never before seen "shadow government office" that allowed advocacy groups to establish a questionable foothold in federal policy. Former Vice President Kamala Harris first created the office in September 2023, and numerous gun control advocacy groups proceeded to say the quiet part out loud—claiming they were behind the whole thing.

Those deputies are authorized to supervise, issue, and help complete residents' ballots, but only if they request it—residents "may decline to vote when the SVDs visit."
