Dear John,
Right now, Elon Musk—an unelected billionaire set loose by Donald Trump—is attempting a coup to take control of our government. He’s dismantling key government agencies, attempting to take people’s jobs, and accessing private and classified information.
Congress should be a check on this power grab. Instead, it's being complicit and allowing an oligarchy to take hold of our government. This is unprecedented, unconscionable, and unbelievably dangerous for the state of our government and democracy.
Tell Congress: Intervene and Stop Elon Musk [[link removed]]
Congress needs to stop being complacent and protect us from a billionaire’s whims.
TAKE ACTION [[link removed]]
Donald Trump has given an unelected billionaire who does not even have a security clearance the power to tear down livelihoods and essential aid—all for his own self-interest. Just in the last week, Musk has:
* Forcibly gained access to U.S. Department of the Treasury's payment system that controls more than $6 trillion in payments and distributes funds to thousands of places, including Social Security, Medicare, federal employees, and businesses—some of which are competitors to Musk’s companies.
* Shut down U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), a government agency tasked with disbursing grants all over the world. It is no exaggeration to say that people will die as a result.
* Attacked civil servants and contractors, and pushed for government employees to resign, resulting in thousands of people suddenly being without jobs.
We need our elected officials to stop Elon Musk and his conspirators from wreaking more havoc across our government and countless people’s lives. If they remain silent, then they are complicit in the destruction of our democratic institutions. Tell your members of Congress to stop being silent and fight back to stop Elon's coup. We deserve protection from our elected leaders against the whims of a billionaire. [[link removed]]
