On January 16, 2025, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, along with the full Cook County Board of Commissioners and countywide elected officials, officially welcomed Dr. Kisha McCaskill to the Cook County Board as she was sworn into office by the Honorable Appellate Court Justice Cynthia Cobbs.
State of Illinois elected officials, Chicago aldermen, suburban mayors, clergy members, and residents gathered in the Cook County Board Room to celebrate Commissioner McCaskill’s appointment.
(COOK COUNTY, IL) – The National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) has once again recognized Cook County as a 2024 Visionary Digital Inclusion Trailblazer, the highest distinction in its annual program. This honor celebrates Cook County’s continued leadership and innovation in closing the digital divide and advancing equity for all residents through the implementation of its Digital Equity Action Plan.
“We are proud to once again be recognized by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance as a Visionary Digital Inclusion Trailblazer,” said Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. “This honor is a testament to our commitment to advancing digital equity by building a robust ecosystem rooted in accessibility, safety and collaboration. Cook County remains focused on delivering sustainable, community-driven solutions to close the digital divide and ensure every resident has the tools and opportunities to succeed.”
When temperatures in Cook County are expected to dip to unsafe levels, the County's Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security provides an updated list of warming centers for residents to protect themselves and their families.
Residents who need to seek shelter at a warming center should contact the center first to verify availability and hours of operation.
