Legislative Update

________________________________________________________________________

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I hope this message finds you well. As we look back on the first three weeks of this highly irregular legislative session, I wanted to take some time to update you on what’s been happening at the Capitol. With last Friday's Supreme Court ruling and yesterday’s lawsuit announcement, there is no lack of controversy here in St. Paul.

Despite all the headlines and conjecture, I know there is still a lot to be done, and I have made sure to use this time wisely. Over the past three weeks, we’ve laid out our legislative priorities and announced proposals for major improvements in areas like public safety, affordability, and putting an end to the misuse of government funds. I’ve also been meeting with constituents and advocacy groups to learn how I can better serve my community and the State of Minnesota.

March for Life

Last Wednesday, I joined my fellow legislators and advocates at the Capitol in a demonstration of support. I will always stand up for what I feel is right and that means honoring the lives of the unborn.

A Busy Week in St. Paul

This week, I had the privilege of meeting with a variety of groups and organizations at the Capitol to discuss important issues and foster collaboration.

I began the week by meeting with the Minnesota Association of Townships to listen to their concerns and explore ways we can support their efforts. Later in the week, I joined with chaplains from the Capitol. We gathered for prayer, reflected on scripture, and engaged in meaningful conversations about the crucial role that faith plays in our political landscape.

Wednesday was the Agricultural, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR) Day at the Capitol. I participated in an agricultural huddle where I had the opportunity to hear from the Minnesota Board of Animal Health. They shared their insights on the state’s current situation, including concerns about the looming budget shortfall, staffing issues, and recent developments regarding animal diseases. I met with the Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council, where we had productive discussions on how to support education, invest in agriculture, and strengthen Minnesota’s agricultural industry.

On Thursday the American Bikers for Training And Education (A.B.A.T.E.) returned to the Capitol to discuss how we can protect the rights and enhance the safety of Minnesota’s motorcyclists.

It was a week filled with meaningful conversations and collaboration, all aimed at improving the lives of Minnesotans and supporting our state’s various sectors.
