Note From the Chair

Hey folks! Rita Hart here, and with some good news!

Mike Zimmer won his special election in Senate District 35 this week! The Republicans may still have a majority in Iowa’s Senate, but now that majority has shrunk by one seat. To add to our victory, Ritchie Kurtenbach won his special election for a seat on the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors.

These twin triumphs prove that Democrats can fight, and win, in Iowa. Zimmer and Kurtenbach showed voters their honesty, their experience, their common sense, their can-do work-hard attitude, and got elected because of it. As long as Democratic candidates can show who they truly are to voters, they can win. And their success is Iowa’s success. This shows we can take our state back, folks. And we here at the IDP intend to do so with all the means at our disposal.

Let’s get to work,

Sincerely,

Rita Hart

IDP Chair
