Give Fire Victim Families Emergency School Choice

As Gov. Gavin Newsom stood near a burned-down school, Pacific Palisades mom Rachel Darvish pleaded ([link removed]) with Newsom: “That was my daughter’s school, what are you going to do?” Newsom offered no real answer for the distraught parent at the time.
Well, here’s the answer he should have given: all families affected by the Los Angeles fires should be eligible for emergency education savings accounts parents can use to pay for education alternatives for their children.

California Could Lead The Way On Bipartisan Prescription Drug Reform

California State Senator Scott Wiener, D-San Francisco, recently introduced a bill aimed at reining in pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), the middlemen largely responsible for the dysfunction plaguing our nation’s prescription drug market.
Wiener’s effort should attract the support of lawmakers on both the left and right. By cracking down on the activities of PBMs, they can deliver real savings for patients at the pharmacy counter.

LA Needs Fewer Government Rules, Not A Marshall Plan

Plans, schemes, visions and galvanized mindsets are nice and all. But what Los Angeles and other communities need isn’t a Marshall Plan or Newsom’s idea of LA 2.0. They don’t need Newsom’s “big hairy, audacious goals,” they just need some common sense.
They need the state and local government to do what they need to do to clean up the mess of the fires and make sure they don’t happen that badly again, obviously
