Dear Neighbor,
In my last newsletter, I mentioned legislation I’ve authored to deliver more affordable, accessible and reliable energy to Minnesotans. That bill is part of a larger House Republican package of bills to make Minnesota a more affordable place to live, work, and raise a family.

The House GOP’s “Make Minnesota Affordable” initiative focuses on lowering energy costs, reducing the tax burden, and ensuring budget surpluses benefit hardworking Minnesotans.
People have suffered enough of the record price increases, with our state’s reckless spending and unnecessary tax increases the last few years only adding to the burden. It’s time to support the hardworking people of this state by reducing taxes and rolling back some of the needless tax increases Democrats passed while they were spending the $18 billion surplus.
The Make Minnesota Affordable package includes:
* Delivering sweeping tax reforms, repealing the controversial retail delivery fee and ending the tax on Social Security income once and for all. By requiring a comprehensive analysis of tax policies, this bill ensures a fairer system for Minnesota taxpayers. This represents a commitment to economic growth and reducing financial stress for families and seniors alike.
* Ensuring that future state budget surpluses are returned to the people of Minnesota. By proposing a constitutional amendment, this bill codifies the principle that taxpayer money belongs in the hands of those who earned it. The measure guarantees that Minnesota families, not government bureaucracy, benefit from the state’s financial successes.
* Modernizing Minnesota’s renewable energy policies by expanding the state’s definition of eligible renewable energy to include hydroelectric capacity. It also delays unrealistic standards for electric utilities, protects reliable energy sources, and ends the state’s nuclear moratorium. These reforms will help stabilize energy costs and secure a balanced energy future for Minnesota families and businesses.
Minnesotans deserve energy policies that make sense for both the environment and their wallets. My measure ensures we have a balanced, all-of-the-above approach to renewable energy that prioritizes reliability and affordability.

"Enjoyed attending the recent Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association legislative conference. Thanks to everyone who made this event possible and I look forward to working on legislation to deliver affordable, reliable energy to Minnesotans this session."
fraud
*More fraud*
The subject of fraud continues making headlines in Minnesota and House Republicans remain committed to clamping down on it.
This issue surfaced again this week, with a KSTP report [ [link removed] ] unveiling disturbing revelations regarding the state Child Care Assistance Program. The investigation revealed that some of the top recipients of CCAP funds were cited for dozens of licensing violations while receiving millions in state funds, including one that had their conditional license status lifted in 2024.
The investigation also raised concerns that some of the state's largest CCAP recipients may be fraudulent, with no evidence of children or employees present during repeated visits despite receiving millions of dollars in CCAP funds for children purportedly currently enrolled in the program.
It’s just another example of how criminals have been able to run rampant with the Walz administration and fellow Democrats turning a blind eye. We need to tighten the screws on the CCAP program and others in this state to protect taxpayers from being ripped off.
*House Democrats still not at work*
We’re now closing the books on Week 3 of the 2025 legislative session, but House Democrats still refuse to set foot in the Capitol … collecting paychecks all the while. House Republicans continue showing up at the Capitol to do the work of the people. The House Democrat legislative shutdown needs to end now so they can join us.
Sincerely,
Chris
