Irving, TX On Saturday, we had our first Congressional Youth Advisory Council meeting of 2025. It was great getting to see our students again and hear their interesting debate ideas.

Our council offers young North Texans a unique opportunity to learn about the federal government and discuss public policy at monthly meetings, while serving our community. You can learn more by clicking here.

I was glad to watch my friend and fellow North Texan, Joe DePinto, receive the Sam Johnson Defender of Freedom Award later that evening for his work supporting military families and veterans!

It was nice to visit with North Texans Jeff and Pam Varnell in Washington last week, they were even able to sit in the audience of our Ways and Means Committee hearing. If you're ever in D.C., make sure to stop by and say hi!

I also enjoyed meeting with the Alliance for Chemical Distribution to discuss my new bill to repeal President Biden’s $15 billion chemical tax that is driving up prices of household goods.

I spent the first few days of this week with my House Republican colleagues, President Trump, and Vice President Vance at our annual policy conference focused on delivering on our promises to lower costs, rein in government spending, expand American energy, and secure the border. We had productive, frank conversations as we worked to find compromise.

As you may know, I’m leading the Republican Study Committee’s Budget and Spending Task Force. On Tuesday, I gathered my colleagues for our first Task Force meeting, and we collaborated on ideas for cutting wasteful federal spending.

I introduced the Government Offices Realignment and Closure Act to cut wasteful spending, shrink the bureaucracy, and pay down our national debt.

Yesterday, I hosted a veteran-focused roundtable at our district office to discuss the most pressing issues facing North Texas veterans and how our office can continue to support them.

After, I had the honor of presenting Gavin Tade with a Congressional Veteran Commendation! Colonel Tade was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Air Force in 1994, serving in leadership positions and conducting missions over Iraq and Afghanistan. I was grateful for the chance to recognize his service.

If you know someone who served our nation and their community with honor, nominate them for a congressional commendation to preserve their story for future generations of Americans.

I was happy to meet with some of Texas’ brightest students this week as we celebrated the winners of our 2024 Congressional App Challenge! Congratulations to Cody from Dawson Middle School, Athena from The Hockaday School, and Coppell High School students Aryaman, Samarth, Anmol, and Samanyu.

I appreciate all the students who challenged themselves by learning to code and engaging in the competition. Our office hosts this program each year to inspire students to pursue careers in computer science. Learn more about how to participate in this year’s competition by clicking here.

To kick off my Friday morning, I held a healthcare roundtable at our district office with medical leaders to discuss challenges facing patients, the medical workforce, and providers. I'm working in Congress to expand access to affordable, high-quality care.

Texas-24 Work of the Week

I introduced legislation to promote fiscal responsibility over ESG goals by repealing the 45Z tax credit from Democrats’ Green New Deal scam.

Texas-24 Hometown Hero

This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Westlake resident, Joe DePinto, who has gone above and beyond to serve others through business and community service.
