Email from ENA The president is deporting people who advocate for Palestinian human rights John, We knew it would be bad when Donald Trump won in November — bad for the United States, bad for Palestine, and even worse for the prospect of long term peace. But we didn’t think he’d cross this line and come directly for our First Amendment freedoms. This week, Trump signed an executive order that will deport people here in the US on visas if they express solidarity with Palestine. The order is loosely worded, meaning that law enforcement agents who report to Trump could arrest and deport anyone who so much as uses a Palestinian flag emoji (like we did here 🇵🇸) or expresses sympathy for people dying in Gaza could be deported and have their entire lives upended. Donald Trump and his friends at AIPAC know that they’re losing the narrative war on Palestine. Polls show young people increasingly siding with Palestinians over Israel and organizations like us are working to expose American complicity in Israel’s systemic subjugation and murder of Palestinians. But despite our best efforts, the overwhelming majority of the House Progressive Caucus has remained silent as Trump assails our basic right to free speech. Showing solidarity with Palestine is not a crime and members of Congress who claim to be progressive need to say so and say it loudly! Our mission is to hold these “progressives” accountable and to demand that they use their power to stand against injustices like Trump’s executive order. Can you donate $10 or whatever you can spare to help us pressure the “progressives” in Congress to truly uphold progressive values? It’s clear that Trump is now doing to American protesters what Netanyahu has done to Palestinian protesters for decades. Both of them want to erase our struggle for freedom and our fight against oppression. To that we say: HELL NO!!!
