As you may have seen in the news, the Administration’s freeze on new foreign assistance funding and issuance of stop-work orders on existing programs has created significant unintended consequences for America’s national security and economic interests.

While it makes sense for any new Administration to review U.S. foreign policy and national security programs to ensure alignment with its agenda and priorities, this non-surgical freeze is already jeopardizing U.S. safety, strength, and prosperity – and unfortunately the rescinding of the order earlier this week on federal assistance did not apply to U.S. international programs.

If left unchecked, America’s rivals – including China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea – will use this freeze to expand their influence at a moment when U.S. leadership on the global stage is needed most.

This freeze puts key priorities at risk and has suspended U.S. programs, including:

• Preventing costly wars through support for key partners like Jordan and Taiwan.
• Stopping the resurgence of ISIS in Syria and advancing regional stability.
• Countering China’s growing influence by engaging Pacific Island nations.
• Safeguarding global health to prevent the spread of diseases to our shores.
• Keeping our economy #1 by developing new markets for American goods.

We need you to reach out to your Members of Congress and urge them to take action that would mitigate the damaging real-time impacts on U.S. national security.
