Supreme Court to decide if parents can opt kids out of Pride Storybooks

Woman holding sign "Let Parents Parent"<[link removed]>
In our second grant this term, the Supreme Court has agreed to decide whether parents can opt their children out of storybooks that push one-sided ideology on gender and sexuality. In
Mahmoud v. Taylor<[link removed]>, the Montgomery County, Maryland Board of Education took away parental notice and opt-outs for storybooks that celebrate gender transitioning, pride parades, and pronoun preferences with kids as young as three and four. Older students can opt out when similar topics are introduced during high school health class. Becket represents Muslim, Christian, and Jewish parents who are challenging the ban on elementary school opt-outs. (

This case and our other Supreme Court case,
Catholic Charities Bureau v. Wisconsin Labor & Industry Review Commission<[link removed]>, are expected to be heard later this spring.
