Treasurer and Tax Collector Elizabeth Buenrostro Ginsberg Releases Statement Regarding the Wildfires and the April 10 Secured Property Tax Deadline. Treasurer and Tax Collector Elizabeth Buenrostro Ginsberg released a statement to inform property owners affected by the Los Angeles County wildfires about available property tax disaster relief and the Governor’s Executive Orders. “The recent wildfires have left many in our community facing tremendous hardship, and I want to assure you that our office is here to support you during this challenging time. While the secured property tax deadline for the second installment remains April 10, the Governor has signed an Executive Order suspending penalties, costs, and interest on late property tax payments for properties impacted by the wildfires.” In addition, she emphasized, “Impacted property owners may qualify for temporary property tax relief by filing a Misfortune and Calamity claim with the Office of the Assessor to reassess property damaged or destroyed by the wildfires.” She encourages property owners to visit the TTC website at ttc.lacounty.gov for answers to frequently asked questions related to wildfires and to access self-service options to assist property owners.
