Did you catch the confirmation of President Donald Trump’s Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent? As Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, it was a pleasure to move Secretary Bessent through this process and see him sworn in as Treasury Secretary.
I’m particularly focused on some of the most challenging issues confronting us – like tax, trade, and health care policy – and I know we need a tremendously qualified Secretary–like Scott Bessent–one of the sharpest financial minds in this country with decades of experience, to lead the Treasury Department.
I’m even more confident that Secretary Bessent has the background, training, and character to serve in this critical role -- and I’m pleased to have supported his nomination & confirmation last week.
Friend, Scott Bessent understands how important it is that the Trump tax cuts Republicans passed in 2017 -- and are set to expire at the end of this year – be extended to avoid a crippling $4 trillion tax hike that would deliver a massive blow to our economy, still reeling from the tax, spend, debt, and inflation policies of the Biden-Harris Democrats.
But there’s still more Cabinet roles to get confirmed for President Trump’s team.
