The COVID-19 shutdown orders have caused enough suffering for New Mexico businesses and workers. And now, right when the country is beginning to reopen, things are getting worse for our citizens just trying to put food on the table for their families.

Governor Grisham and her administration have turned against their own, threatening and attacking the voters they swore to serve. New Mexico business owners are facing civil penalties as high as $5,000 per day. One company was fined $60,000 because the owner was taking care of her disabled husband who is a veteran of the U.S. army.

The Republican Party of New Mexico has filed a lawsuit on behalf of our small businesses to start reopening, and we will pay every penny of their legal costs for those who’ve been hurt by this careless and callous administration. Because Governor Grisham isn’t just destroying New Mexico’s economy, she’s breaking the law.

The Public Health Emergency Response Act states that the state may only fine individual violations of court-ordered isolation and quarantines. Furthermore, these penalties cannot and should not be imposed by the executive branch of government --- these orders can only be imposed by the courts.

Gov. Grisham’s actions are unconscionable and set a dangerous precedent. It’s up to us to defend ourselves against this tyrannical overreach. John, are you with us?

When businesses and workers needed Gov. Grisham’s help most, she turned on them. No one should be punished for trying to earn a living --- as every job is essential when feeding one's own family. And no one is above the law—not even the Governor.

Together we are fighting back. This lawsuit is our best chance to hold the administration accountable. Will you stand alongside small businesses, and alongside our Party, before they drive the last nail into the coffin?

We have spent well over $100,000 on lawsuits in the past year fighting the state over these legal issues.
