Good morning, all!
We have some exciting news to share– around 11:00 AM on February 1st, I’ll be making a major announcement on my podcast, Independent is Power.Â
I will be launching an exploratory committee to evaluate a potential run for governor in 2026.
An exploratory committee allows us to assess the level of support for a campaign and lay the groundwork for a strong start. This means that if we decide to move forward, we’ll be ready to hit the ground running once a formal announcement is made.
There are many things that led me to this decision, but one of the biggest is my strong dislike of our current governor. His partisan handling of the recent elections—blocking independent and third-party candidates in direct violation of state law—was the final straw. Additionally, a poll we conducted last year showed that when asked which office I should run for next, the top choice was... governor.
During this exploratory phase, we will also determine the best path forward for our campaign, including which party to run under. Right now, I am favoring running as an Independent constitutional conservative, while leaving open the possibility of running under the GOP banner later. With so many Minnesotans not identifying with either major party, running as an Independent could give us a unique opportunity to win their support and stand out in what will likely be a crowded GOP field.
Given my experience running outside the two-party system in a major race before—and earning a respectable showing—we are in a strong position. Both major parties and the media will have to take our campaign seriously, especially if we can make an impact on the race early on.
This is where my thoughts are currently, but I’d love to hear from you! As always, I welcome your questions and comments—and I hope you’ll tune in to tomorrow's episode of Independent is Power where I will answer your questions!
