Hi there,
On the first day of the new administration, Trump signed a plethora of executive orders meant to harm our lives and endanger our livelihoods. He made it abundantly clear that he intends to do the bidding of billionaires at the expense of the American people. We cannot stand for it.
If we work together, we will be able to overcome the harmful attacks and dangerous incoming policies from this administration. One way is by investing in year-round voter engagement and civic education. NPP will continue to engage our centered communities across PA, having meaningful conversations around the make-or-break judicial elections happening this year. Will you help us activate eligible voters to ensure they make their voices heard by pitching in $25 today?
Here is a look at some of the actions President Trump took in his first days in office:
-
Commuted the sentences and granted full pardons to over a thousand individuals convicted or still being prosecuted for their roles in the January 6 insurrection, including those who violently attacked police officers. (Since the January 6 insurrection, ninety-five Pennsylvanians have faced federal charges.)
- Withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement and the World Health Organization.
Gave executive branch departments and agencies 60 days to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, including all “chief diversity officer” jobs and “environmental justice” positions.
Reclassified thousands of civil servants in order to replace them with Trump loyalists.
Limited birthright citizenship – which is being fought in court for being “blatantly unconstitutional.” Additionally, allowed immigrants to be arrested in schools and churches. Our thoughts are with immigrant communities as Trump deploys ICE to terrorize our neighbors across the country.
Attempted to freeze payment of grants and loans to state and local governments, social service providers, and others. This action was temporarily halted by a federal court and then hours later the executive order was rescinded by the Trump administration due to immediate backlash. It will be the courts to stand in the way of Trump's unconstitutional orders.
And, unfortunately, so much more.
But there is hope:
By joining together, we can work to ensure that our democracy and our rights are protected. Will you join us on our mission to protect people across Pennsylvania and advocate for our freedoms, families, and futures by pitching in $25 right away?
