Events that drive results: Increasing spend with SDVBs
Finding ways to connect small, diverse, and veteran-owned businesses (SDVBs) and purchasers is proving to deliver measurable results!
For example, we held an event in May that brought together government leaders, procurement professionals, and SDVBs from the business consulting statewide contract and resulted in significant growth in state spending with those businesses.
Key outcomes:
- A 4% increase in spending immediately after the event.
- Over the next six months, spending growth sustained at an impressive 34%, demonstrating the lasting impact of these connections.
Why these events work:
-
Building relationships: These events create direct connections between SDVBs and procurement professionals, promoting collaboration and trust.
-
Targeted engagement: Activities like guided networking and discussions ensure businesses understand agency needs and procurement processes.
-
Creating visibility: By showcasing SDVBs' expertise, these events help procurement leaders identify and prioritize diverse suppliers.
Looking ahead
DES is committed to expanding opportunities for SDVBs through continued engagement and events. Our next Meet the Vendors event will focus on IT statewide contracts.
Why it matters
Events like these help DES achieve our goal of maximizing opportunities for small and diverse businesses while driving sustainable economic growth for communities statewide.
