John,

President Donald Trump has told countless lies since he was elected. Actually, that’s not true. The Washington Post reported back in April that he’s made 18,000 false or misleading claims since his swearing-in.

Yesterday, Twitter finally called out just one of his lies. I think this is long overdue.

SCREENSHOT: Trump's tweet that was labeled by Twitter

Our political system only works when Americans are well-informed, and for the president to spread as many falsities as he has, totally undermines the ideals this nation was founded on and the sanctity of our democracy.

And let’s be clear: Twitter did not remove the president’s words or violate his first amendment right. It simply added links to websites that provide factual information about voting by mail, the subject that he was spreading conspiracy theories about.

If President Trump doesn’t want his Tweets to be labeled as inaccurate, he should try something new: telling the truth.

We all deserve better than this,

Kim Olson
