Meet Jim:
Congressman Jim Baird is a decorated Vietnam War Veteran and the proud representative for Indiana’s 4th Congressional District in our nation’s capital.
A lifelong resident of West Central Indiana, Jim grew up on his family’s farm and had the values of faith, family, and hard work instilled in him at an early age. He is an unwavering defender of America’s Constitutional liberties and has spent the vast majority of his life serving our country.
After earning both his bachelor’s and his master’s at Purdue University, Jim was assigned to the 523rd Transportation Company at Cha Rang Valley in Vietnam. He fought in two of the deadliest battles of Operation Lam Son 719 and lost his left arm during a convoy ambush in March of 1971.
In a true embodiment of American sacrifice and patriotism, Jim Baird has put his life on the line time and time again fighting communism abroad.
His belief in the American Dream and our American way of life go far beyond words. For the entirety of his life, Jim has fought the good fight for our country both physically and spiritually.
And he wears his love for the world’s greatest country on his sleeve each and every day that he shows up for work in Washington, D.C.
Previously, Jim Baird spent eight years in the Indiana House of Representatives serving District 44 from 2010 to 2018. Prior to that, he was Putnam County Commissioner from 2006 to 2010.
A fiscal conservative and America First Republican, Jim is incredibly proud to fight every day in DC to advance the best interests of Indiana’s families through Congress.
A loving husband to his wife Danise, a devoted father to his children, and the world’s best pop-pop to his grandkids, Jim spends most of his free time in the company of his loved ones or tending to the family farm.
