It’s no secret that Republicans have a political agenda that will strip us of our freedoms, imperil the entire planet, and put democracy as we know it on the chopping block. Their agenda is anti-LGBTQ, anti-youth, anti-woman, anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, and anti-peace...

We know that, but many leaders in the Democratic Party apparently do not.

Unenthusiastic speeches on the floor of Congress and half-assed tweets weakly condemning Trump’s power grabs won’t cut it. We need a real opposition party that is willing to shout from the rooftops that this sh!t is not normal.

Gun violence prevention advocate and Democratic leader Shannon Watts rightfully ripping Dems for their pathetic lack of opposition.

We endorsed Joe Biden and then Kamala Harris because we knew that the stakes of the election were far too high to have purity tests or sit out the vote. But we were serious when we called Trump a fascist and compared him to vicious dictators throughout history. It seems that Democratic leaders weren’t.

As Joe Biden shook Trump’s hand and led him into the White House on Inauguration Day, news broke that Biden had just preemptively pardoned his siblings and his in-laws, fearing retribution by Trump. How can you reasonably think Trump will go after your family on (forgive us for the pun) trumped-up charges and then smile and applaud at his inauguration? To us, it’s truly unfathomable.

The era of respectability politics must come to an end. We can no longer shake hands with our oppressors as they take away our livelihoods and our futures. That’s why we’re fighting back against Trump and MAGA Republicans, even if Democratic Party leadership won’t.
