As one of my most loyal grassroots supporters, I wanted to alert you to a nasty, racist attack I faced in the final days of our hotly contested race.

The text message told voters I was “Mexican-born” and working against US interests.

As an immigrant American, my love of country and patriotism was born out of my upbringing in a working-class family.  My parents instilled in me conservative values, a strong work ethic, and an optimistic can-do attitude.

I am proud of my heritage, and I am proud to be an American.

But I’ve got to be honest – when I saw text messages sent just days before the election with openly racist language, I was stunned.

I know politics can be nasty - trust me, I’ve been called all sorts of names over the years. But when people stoop to these levels we have to take a step back and realize we are better than that.

But here’s the worst part: Fellow Patriot, these text messages were funded by a shady liberal group. That’s right, the left didn’t think they could beat me fair and square, so they resorted to these disgusting tactics.

Thanks to you and all of our grassroots supporters, we fought back and won. With the House Majority being decided by just 1 or 2 votes, I am so grateful that the voters of Arizona’s 6th Congressional district chose to send me back to Washington.

Today, I am asking you to join me in taking a stand against these nasty, racist attacks. Your contribution to my campaign will help fuel my positive message and ensure that we are prepared for the next attacks the left is already scheming up.

Every time I walk through the halls of the United States Capitol building, I am reminded that in our country, anything is possible—even an immigrant kid from Arizona can reach the highest levels of government.

I know this, unfortunately, won't be the last time someone tries to use these nasty, racist attacks against me. But it is comforting to know that I have supporters like you standing with me.

We can do better. We must do better.
