Friends and Neighbors,

This week, my Senate GOP colleagues and I offered a motion to expel Democrat Senator Nicole Mitchell from the Senate. You will recall that Senator Mitchell is facing a felony first degree burglary charge after police arrested her for breaking into her stepmother’s home, dressed in black, hiding in the basement, and holding items that didn’t belong to her.

This is not the first time we have tried to expel Senator Mitchell. Both times, Senate Democrats voted to protect her.

This was not partisan. It was about protecting the integrity of the Senate. Unfortunately, Democrats chose to protect one of their own instead of doing the right thing.

Sen. Mitchell’s behavior makes her unfit to serve, and her continued presence undermines public trust in the legislature. Minnesotans expect their leaders to hold themselves to the highest standards, but Democrats prioritized their agenda and their power over integrity. Our constituents deserve far better.
