Welcome back, Team Vote Mama! With Donald Trump back in the Oval Office, there’s no doubt we’ve got our work cut out for us in 2025. We’re remaining laser-focused on our strategy of supporting our mamas — empowering them to fight back against extremism and protect our families.

While we’re laying the groundwork to take back the House and Senate in 2026, we’re also focused on important races in 2025 that will shape the future. There are no off years here at Vote Mama.

ENDORSEMENT ALERTS

At Vote Mama, we’re committed to endorsing the strongest, most determined mamas who can win critical races and champion our fight for change — and we’re thrilled to celebrate our very first endorsement of the year!

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is a proven fighter for families and equality, and we’re proud to back her following her recent announcement that she will be running for governor of Michigan in 2026!

In her current role, she has strengthened voting rights, expanded access to the ballot, and stood firm against threats to democracy — including when armed MAGA supporters tried to intimidate her over Trump’s 2020 loss. As a leader, she has ensured Michigan’s elections are fair, safe, and secure while consistently championing policies that protect reproductive rights and support working families.

Sec. Benson is not the only gubernatorial candidate Vote Mama is supporting this year... She joins former Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger!

Abigail is running to become the next governor of Virginia in 2025. She has dedicated her life to fighting for Virginians as a tireless advocate for family-friendly policies. A staunch advocate for reproductive rights, she’s also worked on issues like affordable healthcare, child care, and other economic policies that help moms thrive.

VOTE MAMA ALUM

We don’t just support our endorsed mamas to help them win elections—we cheer them on once they’re in office, as they deliver the change we need. This year, we’re proud to see Vote Mama alumnae Senators Tammy Duckworth and Kirsten Gillibrand continuing to show what it looks like for moms to lead in the U.S. Senate.

These powerhouse moms have been vocal in opposing Trump’s agenda, including nominating Pete Hegseth, a Fox News commentator who was confirmed as the Secretary of Defense. Hegseth’s controversial remarks about women in the military, accusations of being intoxicated while on air, and other alarming personal conduct raise serious red flags that our mamas brought to light.

With Trump back in office, our mamas are refusing to bow down. They’re as vigilant as ever and demanding accountability.

A Look Ahead For 2025:

At Vote Mama, we know there are no off years. Every election matters—whether it’s taking back the House and Senate in 2026 or holding critical state legislative seats in 2025. This year, we’re focused on key races, including endorsing gubernatorial candidates Sec. Jocelyn Benson in Michigan and former Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger in Virginia.

We're also working to hold and expand the Virginia House of Delegates, where Democrats hold a narrow two-seat majority and reproductive rights are at risk. And with Trump’s handpicked Linda McMahon poised to lead the Department of Education, school board races are more important than ever, so we will be backing a slate of incredible school board mamas too. (Be on the look out for more of our exciting 2025 endorsements in the coming months!)

We refuse to sit by while Trump and his allies push us backward. Moms are the backbone of this movement, and they’re the first line of defense against the extremism that is overtaking Washington.
