Priorities are being made clear, fellow activist.
Last week, while NPP and other progressive grassroot organizations chose January 20th to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the incomparable Coretta Scott King, Donald Trump was hosting our nation’s top 1% at his inauguration.
According to The Keystone, tech billionaires Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, and Jeff Bezos were all sitting front and center at the inauguration. This comes after Trump nominated 13 billionaires to serve in his administration.
Trump used this time to make horrific promises to attack LGBTQ+ rights, eliminate birthright citizenship (which is in the U.S. Constitution), roll back climate protections, “expand U.S. territory,” AND help pad the pockets of the country’s most wealthy. That doesn’t even include the flurry of executive orders that followed.
As our CEO Kadida Kenner stated, “I believe that folks were hearing the more divisive policies on the horizon, the attempts to utilize executive orders that could harm the lives and endanger the livelihoods of those who need the most help in these times, and Donald Trump continues to act on behalf of the billionaires who put him back into power here in 2025.”
It’s more clear than ever: we must work together to overcome the harm that the Trump administration will bring to our communities. This is a stark reminder that we need leaders who will stand up for injustices and work to implement policies that will help the American people, not leaders who are in love with power grabs and only acting out of their own self-interests, harming the American people. We are on a mission to make that our reality in Pennsylvania.
