John – not every gun statistic stays in the headlines, so I want to share this one:

More than 1,150 guns were found and seized at K-12 schools in a single year. That’s six guns every day.

If you didn’t know that number, that’s no accident. Over half of these incidents are never reported by news outlets, and school districts often fail to notify parents or staff.

It’s hard to dedicate your mind to learning or teaching with that uncertainty hanging over you. Was there a gun at school yesterday that I didn’t know about? Is there one here now?

Change is possible, but it doesn’t come free. As a teacher, as an advocate, and as a person who knows we can do better, I have to ask, John: Will you help Teachers Unify demand that kids and families are safe by donating $25 to our educator-led movement? ([link removed])

We’ve watched extremist lawmakers do everything they can to avoid real solutions. They subject kids and staff to trauma-inducing active shooter drills, and even arm teachers.

They want to harden schools, to make them combat-ready. But schools aren’t prisons – nor should they be! – and school staff aren’t meant to be trained officers or sharpshooters. What we do know is this: Just the idea of a gun can haunt a classroom, let alone an experience with one. And John, it doesn’t have to be like this.

That’s why Teachers Unify is working every day to empower teachers and educators across the country to become advocates for real change. We’re providing trainings and resources to turn educators into activists, but we need your help funding these projects.

We don’t have the billion-dollar gun lobby behind us — we have everyday people like you, John. So with all that’s at stake, will you give $25 today to support teachers nationwide to end gun violence? >> ([link removed])
