The first hearing of the 89th Legislature on school choice is taking place tomorrow in the Texas Senate. The Senate Education K-16 Committee will meet Tuesday, January 28th at 11:00am. The hearing will take place in the E1.028 hearing room in the Texas Capitol Extension.
The bill, Senate Bill (S.B.) 2, is authored by Senator Brandon Creighton, the chair of the Senate Education K-16 Committee. The bill provides $11,500 for public school students with a disability, and $10,000 for children in public school who do not have a disability. The bill also includes strong protections against potential fraud such as annual audits from a private entity and direct reporting of suspicious transactions.
We need supporters who are able to come and testify in support of S.B. 2 at the Texas Capitol! Let your voice be heard!
