An incarcerated man named Bernie recently attended a Prison Fellowship Hope Event—a program made possible by people like you—in New Mexico. Bernie was once involved with a gang but found purpose in Jesus while incarcerated. He spoke to the power of following Christ in prison: “When a man finds Jesus, he’s not only transformed himself, but his family is transformed and his community is transformed.”
I pray you are experiencing the true peace and joy of Jesus, just like Bernie. Maybe you’ve made a resolution for 2025, and if one of your goals is to further engage with Prison Fellowship this year, thank you! Because of you, we will continue equipping and inspiring the Church to encounter Christ with the incarcerated.
I believe many of tomorrow’s leaders are behind bars today—forming deep roots in their faith like Bernie, worshipping at Hope Events, being transformed in the classrooms of Prison Fellowship Academy and Prison Fellowship Grow, intensive in-prison programs that help incarcerated men and women discover their identity and purpose. Our programs function together to tell the beautiful story of God’s grace and redemption.
With your support, Prison Fellowship can enable local churches and other partners to seek justice, love mercy, and restore hope like never before. We want to see believers on both sides of the prison walls meet Jesus alongside one another.
None of us can do this important work alone. We’d love to see your church leadership and volunteers join us at Restore, a conference in Columbus, Ohio, this Sept. 9–10. We will dive into ministry best practices, discover how to embrace a God-inspired vision, and learn what it means to mobilize those we’ve been entrusted to lead.
Our desire is that the Church that God is building up behind bars would work hand in hand with the Church outside prison. We desire to respond to Jesus’ petition in John 17 so that His Church would experience a unity mirroring His own closeness with the Father. I pray that the Church in America experiences new revival as we inspire the local church to grow alongside our incarcerated brothers and sisters!
It is the heart of Jesus to give people second chances, to go into the prisons, to come alongside families that are in need. I think that's what the Gospel compels us to do. Prison Fellowship empowers the local church not to have to worry about trying to do everything alone. It’s really doable for all churches, no matter the size.
