Now that we’re almost a month into the new year, I want to update you on the state of gun legislation that could put teachers, our schools, and our communities at risk in 2025:

• Currently, over 30 states allow teachers and school staff to be armed in our classrooms.
• The NRA is backing a new bill in Congress that would let people carry concealed weapons in any state if it's legal in their home state.
• Gun lobby-backed officials are pushing risky changes to federal agencies that enforce gun laws, so the gun industry can operate without consequence.

As a teacher, I’ve seen firsthand what happens when we expand legal access to guns and let the gun lobby go unchecked:

Guns eventually find a way into our classrooms, and teachers become the first line of defense.

We can’t stay silent while they profit off the lives and wellbeing of teachers, school staff, and students.
