Cynthia Lummis - Senator for Wyoming

Promises made, promises kept.

President Trump spoke to all Americans when he promised the golden age of America starts now.  For the past four years, people throughout the Cowboy State have been bogged down by sky-high inflation and Washington bureaucrats have tied up prosperity in the west with burdensome red tape. Instead of directing their efforts towards the safety and security of Americans, the previous administration poured funds into woke diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, while turning a blind eye to the millions of illegal criminals flooding in at our southern border.

The president wasted no time rolling back Green New Deal measures that pandered to the climate change extremists. In his first few days, President Trump rescinded environmental justice regulations that served no purpose other than to hogtie the west, and he revoked senseless electric vehicle mandates that catered to Hollywood liberals. In this Golden Age of America, we will revitalize the west and breathe life back into the pioneer spirit. President Trump promised to “drill, baby, drill,” and with his support, we will unleash American energy.

The Golden Age of America began on January 20 when President Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. The American people gave the president a mandate to secure our southern border, fix our inflated economy, and restore faith in American dominance. I am working around the clock to deliver for the people of Wyoming and push the president’s cabinet nominees across the finish line. It’s an exciting time in Washington, and I am thrilled to bring victories home to the Cowboy State.

Happy Trails,

Senator Lummis' Week in Pictures

The Wyoming National Guard made the trek to D.C. to offer security and protection to those attending President Trump’s inauguration! Thank you for braving the winter weather and keeping Washington safe!

I met with President Trump’s Director of National Intelligence nominee, Tulsi Gabbard, to discuss her plan to strengthen our national security. I served with Lt. Col. Gabbard in the House of Representatives, and I have no doubt she will play a pivotal role in restoring American global dominance.

I joined my friend and colleague Senator Tommy Tuberville on Newsmax to discuss our Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. Biological men competing in women’s sports is not just a disgrace, it insults women and girls across America. I am proud to stand up for the right to fair play for all female athletes.

I also met with Travis Hill to discuss comprehensive digital asset legislation under the Trump administration. Ensuring a secure financial future for my grandchildren is so important to me, and a strategic bitcoin reserve is the only way I see forward.

Legislative Actions

Under four years of the Biden administration’s failed leadership, our permitting process is woefully backlogged and incredibly difficult to navigate. The federal permitting process takes years, which discourages investment and innovation all together. I am proud to have introduced the Full Responsibility and Expedited Enforcement (FREE) Act to address the current federal permitting system plagued with ambiguous, time-consuming, and costly policies. I’ve proposed permit by rule as a more efficient alternative, allowing for specific written standards and streamlined approval processes. Implementing permit by rule processes will streamline approvals and help us address backlogs.

Wyoming relies on America’s truck drivers to deliver goods to folks and small businesses throughout our rural state. This week, I introduced the Licensing Individual Commercial Exam-takers Now Safely and Efficiently (LICENSE) Act, which helps ease supply chain challenges by increasing the number of truck drivers in the U.S. Streamlining commercial driver’s licensing and cutting this burdensome red tape will ensure the people in the Cowboy State can rely on deliveries, so they get the resources they need.

This week, I helped to pass the Laken Riley Act through the Senate. The House of Representatives also approved it, and it is on its way to the president’s desk. I spoke on the Senate floor to urge my colleagues from across the aisle to support this lifesaving legislation. After President Trump promised in his inaugural address to restore law and order at our Southern border, it is appropriate that the Laken Riley Act is the first bill he will sign into law. This legislation sadly cannot bring Laken Riley back, but it will save other Americans and their families from enduring this heartbreaking and preventable tragedy. Click here to view my remarks.

Wyoming has long been a home for trailblazing women. Senator John Barrasso and I introduced a resolution to honor the 100th anniversary of Wyoming’s Nellie Tayloe Ross becoming the first female governor elected in the United States. Recognizing Governor Ross reminds us of the women who paved the way for the opportunities we have today. As we celebrate her legacy, we also recognize the lasting impact of her leadership on our state and nation. A huge “thank you” goes out to the students at Green River High, who shared their fabulous idea to make this possible.
