“We feel very strongly that this could help save us environmentally,” says Candy Pelissero on the importance of connecting young people to the forest—a need she meets by funding League education programs. Pelissero’s first gift to the League was made on her 8th birthday.

@savetheredwoods  "🦅The California Condor, also known as Pregonesh by the Yurok Tribe, is a very special species both environmentally and culturally speaking.

📚I actually had the honor of studying their home ranges for two years thanks to the starter grants provided by Save the Redwoods League.

🫣And I wanted to come on here and let you know that it is a little scary applying to your first grant, especially when you're just starting off college or you're a first generation student like myself.

👩‍🎓But I want to let you know, if you find some good mentors that can encourage you and support you through this process, it's going to be something that makes you a much more well-rounded scientist and a stronger candidate for whatever you want to do after college. 🔬

🌲So don't be shy and go give it a try."
