John,
A panel of industry-friendly judges recently issued a devastating ruling that prevents the FCC from enforcing net neutrality protections.1 This is a blow to consumers, Internet users, and the millions of people from across the political spectrum who support net neutrality. However, the decision was not a total surprise and could be a harbinger of things to come.
We refuse to give up the fight for net neutrality and are ready to push forward the next phase of our campaign, but we’ll need your help to do it. Can you chip in to our ongoing net neutrality efforts today?
DONATE
When the telecom industry filed suit last summer to stop the FCC’s net neutrality rules from going into effect, we began preparing for the worst. If the FCC is unable to regulate the broadband industry, we must find other ways to protect consumers. Our strategy includes:
-
Minimizing focus on the Federal government and shifting efforts towards enacting change at local and state levels. Legislators and activists in states like California have already passed net neutrality strong laws. We’re working to get net neutrality protections passed in additional states.
-
Continuing to drum up Congressional support for net neutrality. We must keep flagging instances of bad behavior by unregulated internet service providers (ISPs), and demonstrate to Congress why they must finally take up the net neutrality cause.
-
Driving public awareness of net neutrality. Many Internet users are still not aware that companies like AT&T, Verizon, and Comcast take advantage of them everyday by charging more for faster speeds, blocking access to content, throttling speeds, etc. We’ll keep recruiting people to Team Internet by updating and pushing Battle for the Net,2 and we’ll use our combined power to put pressure on politicians.
Getting all of this done will take a ton of time and energy. Can you help support our work?
CHIP IN
While it would be easy to be dismayed by this latest roadblock, the net neutrality fight is one that we’ve been in for a decade and we’re not planning to back down. We see a path forward and are focused on the ultimate victory–an Internet that works for everyone, and not just the privileged few. Thanks for fighting with us.
In solidarity,
Evan at Fight
