Hi John,

I am thrilled to share some excellent news in our ongoing fight for justice for the dogs at Ridglan Farms. As you may know, Ridglan is one of the largest breeders of dogs for experimentation. They confine thousands of beagles in small cages and subject them to painful mutilations. DxE’s 2017 investigation into the facility shocked the public and inspired locals to launch the advocacy group Dane4Dogs. Now, after years of campaigning and legal battles, we have secured a major victory.

This morning, Dane County Judge Rhonda Lanford granted the petition to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate and prosecute Ridglan Farms for animal cruelty!

After reviewing the evidence presented to her by employee whistleblowers, a veterinarian, and a factory farm investigator, Judge Lanford found:
“there is probable cause to believe that Ridglan Farms has committed crimes under Wisconsin’s animal cruelty laws, and the district attorney has failed to issue a complaint or commence an investigation into Ridglan’s conduct."

The judge noted in
her order that over 900 people emailed the Dane County District Attorney asking his office to investigate Ridglan Farms, and this fact provided evidence that the district attorney was clearly aware of the issue and willfully ignored it. Based on this, Judge Lanford was able to determine that it is indeed necessary for the court to appoint a special prosecutor. Your calls and emails worked! Thank you so much for taking action.

Please help us share the news about this victory and keep the attention on Ridglan Farms.

This decision marks a major victory in our fight to hold Ridglan Farms accountable. A special prosecutor will now be appointed to investigate the facility's widespread violations of animal welfare laws. And if we keep the pressure on, this could lead to shutting down operations at Ridglan Farms for good.

Together, we are making a difference. We are moving closer to a future where animal experimentation -- and all animal exploitation -- is a thing of the past.

Thank you,
Paul Darwin Picklesimer
