Dear John,
First and foremost, we hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy
during these challenging times.
As the pandemic continues to evolve, so does our lifesaving work. Today, I'd
like to update you on what HIAS is doing to help refugees and asylum seekers in
Greece, where measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 have made it difficult to
reach those who need our aid most. For the past two months, nearly 17,000 people
have been trapped on lockdown in the Moria refugee reception center on the
Island of Lesvos without the ability to social distance or sufficient access to
essentials such as sanitation and adequate medical care. With little to no
outside assistance or protection mechanisms available, Moria has become a
dangerous place, particularly for women and children.
Despite these challenges, HIAS Greece is doing everything we can to assist
refugees and asylum seekers under these challenging conditions. We know this is
a difficult time – but if you are in a position to help, your gift would mean
everything to the families who have fled unimaginable dangers in search of
freedom and safety:
Please make a gift of $18 or more today to provide
critical aid to refugees and asylum seekers in Greece and around the world – so
they can rebuild their lives free from violence and persecution.

[[link removed]]HIAS Greece is providing legal assistance to many filing asylum claims as the
current system is complex and difficult for them to navigate. HIAS also provides
referrals for services such as medical care, and is a leader in advocacy,
speaking out on the rights of the forcibly displaced and their need for legal
protection.
HIAS is answering the call to help the refugees and asylum seekers who have left
everything behind in their quest for safety. The need for our crucial assistance
has never been greater. That’s why we’re asking for your support:
If you can, please make a gift of $18 or more now to
support refugees and asylum seekers as they build new lives during this
immensely challenging time.

Thank you so much for being a part of this lifesaving work.
