Four years ago today, Donald Trump emboldened a mob to attack the Capitol in an attempt to overturn a free and fair election. That dark day was a direct assault on our democracy—with five lives lost.
With Trump set to return to the Oval office in two weeks, he’s doubling down, suggesting he will pardon the violent insurrectionists and punish those who held him accountable.
Pardoning rioters sends one message: Political violence is acceptable. Targeting ‘political enemies’ that were simply doing their job is the playbook of a dictator.
We can’t let this happen. The House Select Committee to investigate January 6th— Adam Schiff, Liz Cheney, Jamie Raskin, and others —worked tirelessly to get to the truth about that deadly day. Now, he’s unjustly seeking retribution.
