Fellow American,
You and I are used to hearing about innovations in business and technology.
But we rarely hear of big, new ideas designed to support the most important part of our lives: our families.
Americans are overdue for smart, creative policies that will support our families in the 21st century — and will help to relieve us from the strains that COVID-19 has placed on all of us.
In a time of widespread job loss, school closures, and near-complete uncertainty, American families are facing once-in-a-generation threats at a time they are needed most.
That’s why the American Principles Project has called on Congress to prioritize policies that strengthen families and family formation in the coronavirus relief legislation they are debating right now!
Will you join the fight for American families? Please sign this important petition online and tell Congress to put families first in their negotiations.
There are bold, new policies that Congress could enact today to help support American families, especially in these challenging times.
One example is the Cassidy-Sinema “baby bonus” plan, which would allow parents to receive a $5,000 advance on their child tax credit upon the birth or adoption of a new child.
The “baby bonus” legislation:
- allows parents to choose when and how to receive financial support for their growing families … without creating complicated employer mandates or government bureaucracy as it’s a front-loaded bonus on their own child tax credits;
- empowers parents to choose the support most helpful for their families, from paying costs associated with childbirth, infant care, maternal care, child care, or time off of work … because the money belongs to them with no strings attached; and
- most helps vulnerable families and low-income parents, who are the least likely to have these benefits offered by their employers … because expanding a family should always be a blessing, not a luxury.
Fellow American, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, you and I have seen Congress take unprecedented — but necessary — measures to help businesses and workers.
Don’t American families deserve the same support, with new, pro-family policies like the Cassidy-Sinema “baby bonus” plan?
Our leaders in Washington, D.C. are debating emergency coronavirus relief legislation right now. Speaker Nancy Pelosi got headlines for passing a bill through the U.S. House … but the Senate and the White House must agree to a final proposal before it becomes law.
That means that pro-family activists like you and me have time to act — and we must speak up now!
