As we count down the hours until the New Year, we invite you to join us in celebrating 10 moments we were proud to be part of in 2024.

Thanks to the courage and bravery of our clients and the unwavering support of our partners, we secured multiple landmark victories in some of our nation’s highest courts—and many other victories outside of court—restoring our clients’ rights and establishing legal precedents that protect every American.

Although not every case ends in a victory and justice is rarely swift, we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished together and are determined to continue our fight to protect Americans from government overreach and abuse in 2025 and beyond.

Countdown: 10 highlights from 2024

#10 – North Dakota’s Northland Township—home to just 56 people—won a major victory against the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

#9 – Jessica Pilling, a California mom who sued her city over a $20,000 “inclusionary housing” fee, won a $30,000 settlement in a victory for property owners (and common sense).

#8 – After PLF helped Georgia mom Katie Chubb sue over the state’s antiquated certificate-of-need laws, Georgia passed much-needed reform

#7
Oklahoma entrepreneur Jamie Leach successfully defended her business against the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

#6 South Dakota, Idaho, and Wisconsin banned home equity theft following PLF’s 2023 Supreme Court victory in Tyler v. Hennepin County

#5 The Supreme Court ordered lower courts to reconsider two PLF cases after overruling Chevron—making PLF clients Arlen Foster and KC Transport the first to benefit from the end of judicial deference.

#4 Minnesota farmer Lance Nistler celebrated after a discriminatory grant program was rolled back.

#3 The Second Circuit issued a major victory for New York City parents in their yearslong battle against discriminatory admissions.

#2 Kevin Fair got his Nebraska home back in time for Christmas, after losing it to home equity theft over a $600 debt.

#1 California homeowner George Sheetz won a unanimous victory at the Supreme Court.

Of course, this list is just a fraction of the moments worth celebrating this year, inside and outside courtrooms. We connected with new clients, supporters, and allies. Our outreach team hosted 43 events, drawing nearly 4,000 attendees. Our constitutional scholarship team commissioned 29 papers and wrote more than 80,000 words in law journals. And through it all, PLF was mentioned 8,500+ times in news articles—almost once an hour!

Thank you for being part of our growing community. Here’s looking ahead to an exciting 2025.
