John,

Do you know which species benefit from our Adopt-a-Wildlife Acre program to provide crucial habitat for wildlife? Or which National Parks we have worked with?

Test our knowledge of this unique program with our Room to Roam quiz!

From bison to bighorn sheep, wildlife regularly face serious threats—including disease and death—when they come into contact with domestic livestock grazing in their habitats. In addition, grizzly bears and wolves often get into trouble with livestock on public lands. That’s where our Adopt-a-Wildlife Acre program makes a difference in giving wildlife room to roam.

Thanks to your support, we have retired over 1.5 million acres of federal public land grazing areas, reducing conflict between wildlife and livestock while securing needed habitat.

The program works with ranchers to identify grazing areas where wildlife is at risk and then offers ranchers a market-rate price in exchange for their agreement to retire and stop using their public land grazing leases. Often, ranchers use that money to buy another grazing permit or private land elsewhere. Wildlife has secure habitat, and rancher’s livestock can graze in an area with fewer problems. A win-win for people and wildlife alike!

Good luck!
