Dear friend of IDP,
As we prepare to welcome 2025, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the incredible work we accomplished together this year—and to acknowledge the road ahead. Thanks to your support, the Immigrant Defense Project has been able to make a lasting difference for thousands of immigrants, their families, and their communities.
Here’s what we achieved in 2024:
* Direct Support to Immigrants Facing Deportation: We worked with 1,583 immigrants and their loved ones to provide legal advice and referrals. And we placed more than 70 vulnerable individuals with free attorneys with the expertise to take on their complex legal issues.
* Litigation Support to Improve the Law for Immigrants: We provided expert assistance on over 25 impact litigation cases, filed 7 amicus briefs, and developed critical legal resources to protect immigrant rights.
* Training & Resources for Attorneys and Community Leaders and Organizers: More than 4,500 people attended our trainings, including over 2,500 at our largest session of the year. We created and updated key resources, including multilingual guides for immigrants facing criminal charges and tools for attorneys fighting deportation.
* Advocacy to Protect Sanctuary: As part of the ICE Out! NYC Coalition, we advanced sanctuary protections by securing co-sponsors for critical legislation, engaging directly with City Council members, and building public awareness through op-eds and media outreach.
* New Initiatives Expanding Our Reach: We launched a partnership with If/When/How to provide immigration support to individuals seeking reproductive healthcare, bridging the gap between immigrant and reproductive justice advocacy.
These accomplishments are a testament to the power of collective action—but they are also a reminder of the work still to be done. As 2025 approaches, we face unprecedented challenges as escalating anti-immigrant policies threaten our community members.
The Trump administration is banking on our exhaustion, fractures in our movement, and making us numb to intense cruelty to increase the threats to immigrant families. And our defense is our love for each other and our vision for a future in which our communities are supported, not demonized or attacked.
That’s why we need your support now more than ever. Your contribution will ensure that we can respond to growing demands, strengthen our programs, and fight for a future where no one is disposable.

Together, we’ve proven that collective action is what makes change possible. With your help, we’ll continue to fight for dignity, justice, and freedom for all immigrants in the year to come.
Thank you for standing with us in this critical work.
In solidarity,
Marie Mark, Executive Director
