Mitch McConnell has already relegated the Heroes Act to his legislative "graveyard." He called the bill a "totally unserious effort" and a "seasonal catalog of left-wing oddities."

David Cicilline

Team – while many of our communities hardest hit by COVID-19 are seeing positive signs that all our efforts to flatten the curve are working, it’s clear that we have a while to go before we beat this virus.

That’s why the House passed a fourth stimulus bill last week – the Heroes Act – to continue to provide states and cities, families, small businesses, and hospitals with the relief they need to continue to weather this storm. The House is stepping up to provide badly needed relief where President Trump and Mitch McConnell have failed to lead.

Of course, McConnell has already relegated the Heroes Act to his legislative “graveyard.” He called the bill a "totally unserious effort" and a "seasonal catalog of left-wing oddities."

PPE for frontline workers is not a “left-wing oddity.” Relief checks for unemployed Americans and struggling small businesses are not “unserious.” We cannot allow Mitch McConnell to turn this into a partisan sideshow when more than 90,000 Americans are dead and we are facing an unprecedented economic crisis.

House Democrats are working day and night to bring relief to American families, workers, and businesses – and we need your support to ensure Mitch McConnell’s obstruction doesn’t win out. Rush an urgent contribution to support our movement and fight back →

I am proud that the House is urgently acting on measures that will bring relief to the American people and keep our communities healthy and safe. When all is said and done, the Heroes Act will bring $5.3 billion back to Rhode Island.

This legislation now heads to the Senate, where Mitch McConnell’s top priority is making it impossible for everyday Americans and essential workers to hold companies accountable for not taking the proper precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We need relief that works for the American people – not corporations and special interests. We can’t let the Heroes Act become yet another trophy in McConnell’s graveyard. So, can you chip in today to help me fight back? We’ll need everyone’s support to break through this partisan gridlock.

Thanks for speaking out,

-- David
