Toward the Dream | 2025 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Civil and Human Rights Conference

Hi John,

Drumroll, please!

We’re excited to announce Rep. Jasmine Crockett—a public defender, civil rights advocate and champion for working people—as our keynote speaker at the 2025 AFL-CIO Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Civil and Human Rights Conference in Austin, Texas.

In 2020, Jasmine Crockett was elected the sole Black freshman and youngest Black lawmaker in the Texas House of Representatives during the 87th legislative session. Crockett navigated one of the most conservative sessions in state history, filing more bills than any other new member and assembling a wide coalition to pass landmark criminal justice reforms in the Texas House. Since winning the Texas 30th Congressional District in 2022, Crockett has served as the Democratic freshman class representative with the House Democratic leadership and worked to ensure justice and equality for all.

Rep. Crockett is part of an exciting lineup in the works. Take a look at our tentative agenda and reserve your spot before the Jan. 3, 2025, registration deadline.
