Dear friends,

We hope you and your families are safe and well, given these unprecedented times. We at the Adhikaar family are eager to share some positive news. Our very own, Pabitra Khati Benjamin has been selected as a 2020 Women of Vision Honoree by the Ms. Foundation for Women. Pabitra has been recognized for her intersectional approach to advocacy, empowerment, and leadership to our organization. We could not be prouder to have Pabitra’s bold leadership and vision for social change, as we continue to promote justice for all in the Nepali-speaking community.

Even during a crisis, Pabitra’s leadership exemplifies how much we can accomplish when we come together. While COVID-19 continues to disproportionately impact communities of color like ours, at Adhikaar we have taken this crisis and taken it as an opportunity to strengthen our community power.

We felt it was important to announce Pabitra’s award recognition because it is not only an honor for us at Adhikaar, it is an honor for our community. This award celebrates feminist leaders who have made an unparalleled impact on women’s rights and gender equality at the local, state, and national levels. We are delighted that Pabitra is getting recognized along with three other incredible honorees. ([link removed]) Previous Gloria Awards honorees include former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Academy Award-nominated director Ava DuVernay, and the co-chairs of the Women’s March on Washington. This award serves to recognize all the work Adhikaar and our greater community does, pushing for grassroots advocacy and women’s rights.

We know that we couldn’t have done it without your continued love and support. This is a celebration and a recognition for all of our collective hard work. We hope you can join us in celebrating Pabitra this Wednesday at 7 PM EST as part of the Ms. Foundation’s Roar for Women: A Feminist Block Party. The event is free. More details here.
