In 2024, VoteRiders provided almost 25,000 voters with one-on-one free help. One of them was Seiyanna Terrell, a 21-year-old in Nebraska who wanted to vote for the first time in the 2024 presidential election.

As of April 1, 2024, Nebraska had a voter ID law in effect. The new law requires voters to show a photo ID to vote unless they meet one of three exceptions. Seiyanna’s Nebraska driver’s license was expired, and she couldn’t afford to renew it, which would keep her from casting her ballot.

One afternoon, Seiyanna came across VoteRiders’ Nebraska Voter ID Information Cards at a Juneteenth Celebration in Omaha. From that card, she learned that VoteRiders could help her renew her driver’s license — for free!

Seiyanna quickly reached out to VoteRiders’ Helpline, where Shelly, a trained VoteRiders Voter ID Assistance Volunteer, stepped in to help. Shelly guided Seiyanna on how to apply to renew her driver’s license online. Of course, Shelly made sure VoteRiders covered the renewal fee.
