Power Shift Network

Dear John,

My name is Sarin Glenn and I am the Network Organizer and newest staff member at PSN (that's me in the photo). I am originally from East Texas and COVID-19 has laid bare the inequities of our society in a way that has been unseen for generations and funders are redirecting their resources to try to fill those gaps. This leaves organizations like PSN underfunded and uncertain about our ability to meet our goal of hosting Power Shift 2021 (PS21) and we need your help to bring this convergence to life.

In the past couple of months, I’ve had to deal with the harrowing and crippling reality that because my father and brother are essential workers, Black, and among the working poor in the South, they are at a higher risk for getting, and dying from, COVID-19. Many PSN Network member organizations, like the Newark Water Coalition, serve communities like mine that grapple with hazardous living conditions, water quality, and unchecked police violence, making their efforts to provide support to these vulnerable communities increasingly more difficult. Funders have paused their grant-making and we are asking you to support PSN with a small gift each month to ensure that we can continue to lift up PSN Member organizations who provide vital community supports and continue the fight for climate justice.

PSN has been cultivating a container where organizers can come together and share our increasingly bleak realities and openly talk about the ways our government and society are failing us. We are creating a consistent movement home where people from frontline communities can heal together, identify the resources and supports needed to cultivate resilient communities, and transform our society into the place we deserve. Monthly support like yours is vital to PSN’s ability to bring people from intersecting justice movements together to prepare ourselves for the collective fight ahead - not just for me and my family, but for those of us all around the world who are literally being sacrificed in the pursuit of increased profit and greed.

The youth leaders of tomorrow are depending on people like you to support PSN as we work to provide powerful trainings, tools, and build needed connections at PS21. A monthly donation of just $5 can provide a scholarship for a youth BIPOC organizer to attend PS21 and receive the hard-skills and organizing training necessary to rebuild today's broken systems.

We refuse to fight for the continuation of today’s systemic oppressions and injustices.

We are tired of settling for the status quo and being fed the excuse that radical change for the betterment of all people is impossible realize.

We need your sustained support and resources today to bring justice and equity to the forefront of the fight to mitigate climate collapse and state-sanctioned violence in all of its forms. If supporting the education and training of youth leaders is important to you, please support the work we do with a continued donation of at least $5 each month.

In Solidarity and Gratitude,

Sarin Glenn
