"Powerful donor club" that George Soros co-founded reportedly spending $275 million on the 2020 election. "Democracy Alliance helps set the Democratic agenda and Vox has called it the 'closest thing that exists to a ‘left-wing conspiracy' in the US.' The two new groups appear to be part of the $275 million anti-Trump strategy its board approved in February of 2019. The strategy includes supporting state-based organizing in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New Mexico, Nevada, and Virginia. It would also work to elect more progressive politicians at the state and local levels while building a candidate pipeline." [Read the full story from the Washington Free Beacon.] For all that the left complains about money in politics, they don't seem to mind when it's boosting their cause -- and hurting President Trump.
The Washington Free Beacon did a detailed analysis of what this "powerful donor club" potentially has planned in 2020. Read this thorough report from the Washington Free Beacon right now.
Report: Biden campaign had "opening conversation" with potential VP pick. Here's why that may hurt his campaign. "Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) said on Tuesday that she has had an 'opening conversation' with Joe Biden’s campaign about her potential as a running mate pick for the former vice president and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee." [Read the full story from The Hill.] Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan used a TV interview to explain she's had an "opening conversation" with the Biden campaign about becoming VP.
Whitmer has made national headlines during the COVID-19 pandemic -- and not for good reasons. She "imposed some of the strictest lockdown measures" in America and faced widespread public protest (National Review).
Here's some of the flashback highlights (OK, lowlights) that help show why Biden picking Whitmer could hurt his campaign:
Cringe-worthy: Joe Biden thinks he's wittier than President Trump. He's definitely not. "So Biden jumping into the nickname game is a big gamble. And he didn’t, uh, do so well with his first effort. The former vice president and presumptive Democratic nominee revealed Monday that he’s calling Trump 'President Tweety.'" [Read the full story from the Daily Wire.] When you hear a politician's name, chances are you add President Trump's nickname for 'em without thinking. He's just that good at creating tag lines for his political opponents -- and making them stick.
Joe Biden tried to do the same thing, and it was a cringe-worthy pronouncement that he's calling President Trump ... "President Tweety."
It's not catchy or funny. But it also doesn't land because Biden's digital efforts are so bad that strategists in his own party are publicly criticizing them.
As one journalist put it: "President Trump, his campaign is absolutely demolishing [Biden] online, digital campaign. It is not even close." (Grabien)
"The last Democrat who lost a presidential race honorably was Michael Dukakis." "Democrats now have an assortment of justifications for discrediting outcomes they may not like. They can allege 'voter suppression' — a perpetually evolving catch-all grievance that can never be satisfied, and goes largely unchallenged because it harkens back to genuine crimes of the past. They can blame foreign social-media troll accounts. They can blame the nation’s antiquated constitutional system. They can blame Fox News, which is apparently the only network that can strip feeble-minded Americans of free will and convince them to vote against their own interests." [Read the full story from National Review.] Some Democrats are peddling conspiracy theories that President Trump will delay or ignore the presidential election in November 2020. Joe Biden said as much at a campaign event in April (POLITICO).
But the American people understand it's Democrats who rally against election results they don't like -- and this smart, thorough piece from National Review shows how.
