Hard seltzer’s streak continues as we head for summer

Brewbound reported that the hard seltzer segment is on pace to capture 10% of the beer category dollar sales by this summer, according to insights from Cowen analyst Vivien Azer. Last week, Nielsen found that the hard seltzer segment’s share of beer category dollar sales reached 8.8%. As we head toward the summer season, there are no signs of seltzer’s streak slowing down.

States face tightening revenue budgets

As states and local governments start their reopening plans they will still face a long road of tighter budgets. With 20.5 million Americans unemployed and the nation approaching jobless levels not seen since the Great Depression, states and cities are experiencing a steep decline of tax revenues.

Mexico beer drought leads to deaths from tainted alcohol

Mexican authorities say that people are dying from drinking adulterated liquor, a consequence of the shortage of mainstream alcoholic beverages during the coronavirus pandemic. Much of Mexico has run out of beer after factories were shut down along with other non-essential firms. At least 138 deaths occurred at the end of April in the western state of Jalisco.

FedEx and Microsoft collaborate to deliver packages

Microsoft and FedEx announced a partnership Monday to allow companies to better track their supply chain and improve shipping times. The announcement comes just months after FedEx canceled its partnership with Amazon.
