The Cook Political Report — a nationally-acclaimed group providing non-partisan election analysis — just upgraded our race against David Perdue again in favor of Democrats.
This race is now “Lean Republican,” one step away from being the Toss Up that folks in Georgia have been warning the national media about for over a year.
Cook writes that “Georgia is a state to watch at nearly every level in 2020” and that “both Democrats and Republicans privately believe this is a single-digit race.”
So while the belief is David Perdue will use his relationship with Trump to boost rural turnout and our nominee will focus on the suburbs, that won’t be enough to get the job done in Georgia.
We can’t write off rural voters, particularly rural African American voters, who have dealt with polling places being closed, rural hospitals being closed due to the failure to expand Medicaid, a spike in maternal mortality, and devastation from Hurricane Michael, trade wars, and the coronavirus pandemic.
We need a 159-county campaign to win the US Senate and the down ballot races across our state in a wave election that we HAVE to win — and I am the ONLY candidate in this race who can get the job done. Tonight is our final mid-month deadline before the primary on June 9 — please pitch in whatever you can before midnight.
We have what it takes to win this election. I don’t accept corporate PAC money. You are the engine that will drive us forward to beat David Perdue and take back the Senate majority, and we’ll defeat Trump in the process.
