Dear John, The EPA has proposed a rule change that would be a dangerous step back for science and public health. The measure titled “Strengthening Transparency in Regulatory Science” would require scientific studies to make all their raw data public, even including confidential medical records, or else not be considered for future environmental rulemaking processes. While the Administration deems this a step towards transparency, the fact is privacy requirements would mean this regulation would actually restrict the research that supports creating clean water, clean air, and other vital regulations for the environment and public health. This action is reckless, especially right now amidst a global pandemic when scientists have shown that poor air quality is linked to increased Covid-19 associated health risks. Submit your comment to let the EPA now that the business community rejects their Strengthening Transparency in Regulatory Science rule. We must take action to protect our environment and health especially right now amidst a global pandemic. Please contact Thomas Oppel at [email protected] if you have questions or input. | | |
